What the Mod Editor cannot do

  • Edit Effects - Effects are an intermediate object type used in the game engine, typically to link Effectors to script code. They are simple .txt format and can be found at /data/effects/
  • Edit Design_Stats - Design stats are the descriptions of subsystem statistics that show up in game, along with the icons used, colors and other necessary information for formatting these in the ship design editor (but see the Steam Workshop, there is a mod that enables this)
  • Edit any of the game scripts - These are .as files found at /scripts/ and are written in AngelScript, a scripting language similar to C++. You can use a text editor (Notepad++ is good) to edit these instead, and the game will load them on startup. If they are valid and without errors, the mod editor can see these scripts even if they are from your mod.
